PC-VIEW
=======
PC-View provides the PC community with the oppurtunity to display
IFF pictures to the best of EGA's ability. Use PC-View to display Amiga
pics, IBM-PC Deluxe Paint Pics, Apple II-GS Deluxe Paint Pics, and any
others that adhere to the IFF standard. PC-View tries to be intelligent
about how it displays things, so don't assume that your graphic hardware
can't possibly display those 1Kx1Kx8 Sun Workstation dumps. (!) It will
do the best it can. Needless to say, VGA is much less challenging.
PC-View 2.01 differs from the original release posted on a BBS
some time back. The old version (2.00) had some 80286 code in it, which
may have caused some PC users trouble. Sorry for any inconveniences this
may have caused.
Long-time Amiga users will recognize the supplied Mandril picture;
I had to jump through hoops to capture this picture in IFF format, as its
original Amiga release on the 1985 Workbench Demos disk is not that robust.
If you remember this one, (windows 'n' all) congrats. If you don't, at
least you can appreciate the lack of flicker when run on EGA.
This is the last piece of Amiga-related code I've written in a long
time. As much as I love the machine, my job, my 80386 PC (running Unix 5.3)
and my fiancee receive (and rightly so) most of my attentions. Vive La
Difference, fellow Amigans; keep that candle lit!
As Always,
Dallas (John) Hodgson

P.S. A heartfelt thanx goes out to the scores of people who contributed to
my past endeavours, of which NewZAP, Rainbow and the Amiga SMUS Toolkit
are perhaps the best known. It does one's heart proud to see such
support. -djh
